BASI (Body Arts and Science International) Module 12 - Specific Populations Part 2*

Presented by Jennifer Reigle at Breathe Pilates Studio, The Woodlands, TX (7 hours)

Primary concepts covered are populations with restrictions, with an in-depth look at pregnancy. Lecture includes teaching men and women, different body types and different objectives and approaches. A general review of the repertoire is conducted. Final Examinations. *Module 11 and 12 are typically taught together on the same day. An entire day is then devoted to the final examination process.

Primary concepts covered are the structure and function of the shoulder region. The shoulder joint, muscles of the shoulder, and the importance of correct shoulder mechanics are presented. Lecture includes how to work with clients with shoulder problems and recognizing scope of practice. Repertoire taught is intermediate Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, and introduction of the Ladder Barrel and Step Barrel.

PILATESFIT is a user-friendly, pilates-based mat workout that promotes strength, flexibility, balance, and body awareness. Learn the skills to execute a variety of safe and effective movements and a flowing class in this two day PilatesFit teacher training. This program covers class design and exercise sequencing, attention to safety, alignment and cueing, and exercise modifications for various levels. Level 1 PilatesFit training includes program principles, flowing class formats, beginning to advanced exercises, teaching skills and anatomy review. (10 hours - 1.6 ACE CECs, 13.5 AFAA CECs)

YMCA PIlates Instructor Training

Presented at the Benbrook YMCA in Fort Worth, TX (8.5 hours)

This course teaches exercise instructors the basic biomechanics and philosophical principles of Pilates Exercise. Participants will learn a series of Pilates mat exercises which are designed to improve muscle strength and flexibility, balance, posture, and overall well-being. Also included is information on how to incorporate Pilates exercise into effective group exercise and personal training programs. Practical sessions included.

PiYo Instructor Training

Presented by Mindy Lawhorne at the Irving Sport 24 Hour Fitness in Irving, TX (8 hours)

The PiYo™ Instructor Training process is comprehensive, but a lot of fun! During the training course, you will learn what it takes to become a confident, exciting and motivating instructor. A certificate of completion is awarded to all candidates who receive a combined test score of 80% or better. The written test is multiple choice, true or false and the practical test covers form and technique. All test material will be covered during the training course.

Mat I includes an introduction to the history and principles of Pilates, a review of core anatomy, beginning and most intermediate level exercises with modifications, lectures on class order and programming in a fitness setting and guidelines for safely teaching seniors and pre-, and post-natal classes.

Balanced Body University - The Body 1

In The Body 1 you will acquire solid anatomy training that will help you understand and explain why and how movement works. You will learn how muscles cause movement, range of motion (R.O.M.), types of muscle contractions, basic bone structure of the spine and of the body in general, the muscle structures of the back, abdominals, neck, hips, pelvic girdle, and upper and lower extremities.
